Varrick wakes up at Barrowmoor Manor and meets with Allara, she wishes to discuss their roles in serving with The Raven Queen. Allara performs a ritual that dissolves Varrick’s connection to the Raven Queen, freeing him from his role in forming a coven. Instead, she suggests that he will become and Arbiter of Fate. During the ritual, Allara lays out various tarot cards (Judge’s Gavel, Shattered Hourglass, Silent Crown, Weeping Veil, Path to Ashes, Feathered Scales) until finally placing a card face down at his feet. Varrick blinks out of the ritual back to where he was when he first started talking to Allara and she is nowhere to be seen. He places the blank tarot card in his room.

Meanwhile, the two clockwork sentinels accompanying Cassius power down. Allowing him to search Solonor’s library undisturbed and finds a book related to the Plane of Mechanus with handwritten technical details and notes about Planeswalking, the creation/destruction cycle, and how Mechanus and “The Engine” could help break the cycle. He pockets this book as he hears commotion in the hallway of the workshop.

Solonor cast Wish, curing Sundara’s Phaerimm Sickness curse. Immediately afterward, the clockwork components within Solonor’s Workshop start breaking down. Sundara carries his limp body out of the cavern, just as the magical elevator fails. She calls for Anastasia and directs her to stabilize the workshop. She watches as Solonor grows weaker and weaker, the magic of his own workshop draining him; she teleports him, Cassius, and herself to Barrowmoor, where he falls unconscious.

After settling Solonor in her room, Danny and Briggs appear, seemingly intent on rescuing the group, not realizing they weren’t hostages. Danny remarks on the crews lack of task while aboard The Icebreaker and mentions that he has sold his soul to a devil and joined The Bladereavers. The group finds out that Briggs has hired about 7 other goblins on their ship who he calls the “The Ankle Shankers” stating that they are relatively ‘fresh’. They mention going to visit The Heap and gaining The Trust of The Shifters, but Sundara insists on staying with Solonor until he is conscious. She falls into a trance while watching over him.

In her trance, Solonor visits her dreams, although he behaves oddly. He ask Sundara what she thinks about him and she admits she loves him. When she urged him to wake and speak to her in person, he comments on how painful it would be to her if he died. He then reveals himself to be Alexi Faraday. Faraday shows her his past and asks for the Pieces of The Inevitable to access the vault of Ouroboros, promising to match Karsus’s achievements without the loss of life and to release the limits on the weave. Sundara declines, stating she cannot give the Pieces to him and he tells her that Solonor is not protected by the agreement he made with Cas.

Waking up, she warns Solonor that Faraday is coming for him and he returns to his workshop despite Sundara’s request to protect him. She then informs the group about Faraday’s threat, prompting Dunsparrow Beaumont to demand additional information. Dunsparrow comments that Faraday wasn’t an enemy she was expecting to make. While planning for a likely assault, Dunsparrow ask Cassius to come with her to get supplies.

In New Calim, Dunsparrow confides to Cas, revealing that the remaining Remnants are as good as dead. She explains that The Bone King and his fleet were en route to kill them. She ask Cassius to leave with her. Cassius appears conflicted, but ask her to take him back to the manor. When she refuses, he pulls his gun on her and demands it. She falls to her knees and begs Cas to stay with her instead. After a tense moment, she hands him a locket that allows him to teleport back to the group at the manor, as he vanishes, he hears her say, “I love you.” Cassius arrives at the manor just as a spell locks into place preventing any additional teleportation.
