History
Alexi Faraday grew up far from the Material Plane. His childhood was marked by tragedy, as he survived the massacre of his people and was exiled from his homeland. His ancestors from Drakemire were allied with the Netherese in their historic battle against the Phaerimm. Following his exile, Faraday commissioned a ship to escape Drakemire. However, when the captain discovered a secret about Faraday, Alexi allegedly ordered the entire crew’s deaths—one of whom was the father of Vitaly Draganovic.
Faraday has admitted to a tumultuous past, including straying from his moral code and committing acts that weigh heavily on him. He was once part of The Savage Seven, a group that destroyed Aurunat, The Inevitable and crafted magical items from its remains. He retains the gavel of Aurunat and The Inevitable’s eyes as trophies in his wizard tower in Karsus Folly.
Previously had a scribe, Kazak Ninefingers, that worked for him. He imprisoned this scribe after he studied some of Faraday’s secret scrolls. He also created a device, supposedly, for the Voidwing Sisterhood to open a portal to Shadowfell to have a closer connection to the Raven Queen. Instead the device was responsible for the destruction of a Temple of The Sisterhood.
Faraday’s collaboration with Solonor to create hybrid magical-clockwork devices ended in conflict, leaving the two on antagonistic terms. Solonor later speculated that Faraday sought to reassemble Aurunat to access Karsus’s heart. This theory gained credibility when Gunner Ironford’s Will revealed that Faraday had been seeking the Legend of the Moonwarden from the Bone King and working to awaken Karsus’s heart. At dinner at Barrowmoor Manor, Solonor confirmed that tincture was in part an invention of Faraday’s.
Current Activities
Has been supplying Psionic Weapons to the Valendri people to aid in their battle against The Phaerimm.
He believes that magic should be unrestricted, lamenting the limitations imposed after The Spellplague. During his charity ball, he cast the High Magic spell All Mage, gaining lifetimes of magical knowledge.
Faraday has been collecting the Pieces of the Inevitable to recreate Aurunat, The Inevitable. He revealed to Sundara and Cassius in separate dreams that his ultimate goal is to access the Vault of Ouroboros (possibly another name for the Heart of Karsus), claiming that his mastery over magic could protect the Weave from greater threats. His vision of ultimate control over magic promises liberation from its limitations, but his motives have been met with skepticism by The Remnants.
After Faraday learned of Solonor’s weakened state after casting Wish. He informed The Bone King of The Remnants position on Barrowmoor Manor and then targeted Solonor. Following their battle with Elhorn, the group negotiated with Faraday, relinquishing their pieces of the Inevitable in exchange for personal compensations. Cassius secured the reinstatement of the Manath family in Brightwater, Sundara protected Solonor’s life, and Varrick eliminated Elhorn’s clones (Session 61).
Personality Traits
Comes off as charismatic and charming, tries to defuse tense situations with jokes, really nice alcohol, and inappropriate uses of magic. Hints of ungovernable ambition in his eyes when he talks about his goals. Made a fair trade with The Remnants when he clearly had the upper hand and agreed to a gentleman’s disagreement with Cassius.
Relation to The Remnants
- Is in a romantic relationship with Elowen Elisthorn
- Vitaly is determined to prevent Faraday from obtaining the pieces of The Inevitable
