Events

The group engages with the operatives sent by Duke Oswald Beaumont and the Queen. The battle, initially balanced, starts taking a devastating turn.

Sundara collapses unconscious and bleeding after an invisible spear wielder attacks her and the enemies place magical clockwork restraints on her. Cassius, battling a dragon while polymorphed as a T-Rex, shifts back to his normal form when Sundara’s spell falters. Sensing that the battle above him has changed, he returns to the deck of The Mortal Promise. Despite suffering a fatal injury, Cassius uses Abeyance to stay standing. Bloodied and brutalized, he wears a disconcerting smile, seemingly unbothered by the prospect of death, and he administers a healing potion to Sundara.

The dragon rider brings Varrick down, leaving him bleeding and turns his focus to Cassius. Realizing the battle is becoming dire, Samugi grabs his crown, and unsure exactly what will happen, but hoping for power to help the group, places it on his head. In an explosive burst of black smoke, a sinister Oni, King Chedong takes his place.
