Called Tincture in it’s undistilled form, it is turned into Spark by an Alchemist. Although it is likely that Solonor acquired the first soul that was used to create tincture, the concept of Spark and Tincture is attributed to Alexi Faraday, who initially conceived the idea.
Souls are the source of the creation, these souls come from a variety of sources, including deceased mercenaries, those who pass away naturally, and other unidentified and likely more nefarious means. Its applications range from powering certain Clockwork Devices to more personal uses (there is evidence to suggest that the souls used to create Spark remain in a fractured state, even after being placed inside these devices), such as ingestion or topical application.
Much of the Tincture used to create Spark originates from the Bloodgulch Meatworks in Langston, which accounts for approximately 60% of its production. Another 15% is sourced from the Vulture Den, where souls are obtained either through voluntary agreements, typically in exchange for gold or food, or through more coercive means. The remaining 25% comes from undisclosed locations or methods. Following the death of The Bone King and the resulting destabilization of Langston, the price of Spark spiked dramatically, reflecting the upheaval in its supply chain.
In Karsus Folly, Spark was sold at The Taphouse, a tavern run by Corbin “Corbie” Blackwater (Session 26).
