History
Dunsparrow Beaumont was adopted by Oswald Beaumont as a young child. She met Cassius Manath at some point and became entangled in a romantic relationship that was frowned upon by her father and ultimately resulted in Cassius being thrown in Ironford Prison. Subsequently, tensions in their relationship arose after she witnessed The Remnants kill her father (Session 21) before she had even found out Cassius was out of prison.
Despite this, Dunsparrow later helped Cassius and The Remnants avoid murder charges for The Duke’s death. She feigned that Oswald was severely ill and orchestrated a legal process to inherit the Beaumont estate. When The Remnants later rescued Chalice Manath, Chalice revealed that she had been a prisoner of the Beaumont’s for months—first held by Oswald, then by Dunsparrow—before being handed over to Gunner Ironford. Chalice speculated that Dunsparrow handed her over to gather information without directly conducting the interrogation herself.
Dunsparrow admitted to preventing Oswald’s resurrection to protect Cassius, believing that her actions made her ultimately responsible for her father’s death. Though she grew in influence in New Calim, she was never officially recognized as its ruler. Members of the Sea of Swords, particularly Sarah Stoneheart, noted that the city was in the process of granting Dunsparrow unilateral decision-making power (Sessions 34 and 37) but criticized her decisions as harmful to the people.
She was later seen speaking with Serpa at Alexi Faraday’s charity ball and was identified as having markings of a member of The Circle of Ruin and Thistle on her hands. Dunsparrow later confirmed her membership in the Circle, implying it was a pursuit of power. She revealed that she was under the thumb of the Queen of Brightwater, expressing stress and pressure to maintain her position and authority in New Calim.
Dunsparrow admitted her dislike for her father and inviting Cassius to return to New Calim with her, assuring him he would always have a place there (Session 30). Later, she invited The Remnants to stay with her at Barrowmoor Manor outside of Langston, where she introduced them to Heskell, warning them not to make him an enemy.
After learning of Elhorn’s plans to attack Barrowmoor Manor, Dunsparrow attempted to kidnap Cassius from The Remnants to ensure his safety, which resulted in an emotionally charged confrontation between the two.
