The return voyage aboard The Icebreaker was uneventful by comparison to the prison break itself.
Sal spent much of the journey below deck with the first mate, an older sailor named Leland, who showed him portions of the ship belonging to Cassius. Among the materials recovered were texts concerning The Inevitables and an entity referred to as The Traveler, along with several spell scrolls, including one pertaining to communion with clockwork devices.
The group discussed strategy over what passed for breakfast despite the hour. Our priorities remain divided between destabilization efforts against Tasha’s occupation, extraction of remaining prisoners held elsewhere, destruction of the Blackwater shipyards, and locating/freeing Xalithea. Mazarin suggested inserting Chester into House Vorynth’s territory as an informant given his prior experience as a smuggler. The proposal has merit, but we debated it. We continue adding objectives faster than we resolve them.
At some point, someone added “therapy” to the running task ledger.
We returned to the hideout within the Clay Warrens without incident. Fiona arrived with us, though uncertainty remains regarding her loyalties. Enoch questioned her extensively and concluded she is likely neither spy nor operative. It seems more probable we accidentally abducted a civilian during the prison break. She has handled the situation with surprising composure, ensuring herself a occupation with a pay check.
Celeste reported new intelligence shortly after our arrival. Vaelin is being held within the Prestige District. It changes little operationally, though I would be lying if I claimed the information did not settle heavily. I know my brother well enough to understand he will endure captivity in silence for as long as required.
