Impression

There’s a discipline to Marrion Virelle that I recognize. Not the rigid kind taught in a Katharis house, but something similarly sharp. She speaks plainly for someone with her rank, calculating. Probably not conventional military, but definitely trained in some capacity. If she holds a pedigree, it has been deliberately obscured.

I believe she is waiting to see what shape this new group will take. She does not merely pass orders. Her investment feels… personal. When she talks about this mission, about us, it is as though she has something riding on our success.

There is iron in her. She stood before the Steel Covenant magistrate and lied cleanly, without hesitation, to shield us. But when the pressure breaks past her composure, she doesn’t bend, she shatters. The outbursts are sudden, sharp, and raw. It’s unsettling. Like seeing a weapon misfire.

Known Record

Exhibits high-level clearance and operational autonomy and is a direct line to Quaid, High Regent of Spycraft. Marrion is also a steward of The Oracle itself. The machine dates back centuries to the Founder, but much of its holy machinery has fallen into neglect. Its function and upkeep are part of her charge, and it is her responsibility to report on its state directly to Quaid.

She delivered our assignment regarding the mindflayer phenomenon and the unrest in the Shardlight District. Additionally, she requested we save Theodore Calvers on his disappearance.

I have observed her inquiry into a subject labeled Permutational Dissidence.

Over a bottle of Greenbottle Reserve in her office, we talked. She commented on a past visit to Drakemire, as part of a delegation to the Faraday royal family.

In sharing a bottle, I accessed fragments of Marrion’s memories. She spoke to someone, identity unclear, who acknowledged her anger and her wish to harm ‘them’, yet reminded her she could not bring down the machine. They warned her not to end up like her parents. When I asked her, she insisted both of her parents were alive and well. In her memories, Quaid questioned her directly on the Oracle’s functionality, naming her its foremost authority. She affirmed its soundness and authorized Commencement for our Ledgerman block.

NOTE (Editorial Addenda)

Records indicate Marrion Virelle has prior ties to intelligence operations concerning the Sixth House. She was overheard referencing the name Samita, an utterance that caused a visible reaction in Yedan, suggesting personal or operative significance.
